Scottish MPs back Flag Up

The project was launched in Glasgow on August 1st 2014. Almost one fifth of the members of the Scottish Parliament have supported a motion supporting the launch of Flag Up Scotland Jamaica. Flag Up is launched!

Flag Up Scotland Jamaica was successfully launched at the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce on Friday August 1st, Jamaica’s Emancipation Day. A packed chamber which included the Jamaican Minister of Tourism, the High Commissioner and Jamaican athletes, heard from project director David Pott about the historic links between the nations and John McGhie, son of William McGhie who put the Scottish saltire in the Jamaican flag spoke about his father. Flag Up Launch!

03.07.14 We are delighted to announce that Flag Up Scotland Jamaica will be launching at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce on August 1st. We are also honoured that the Jamaican High Commissioner Mrs Aloun Ndombet-Assamba will be joining us. Both the location and the date are perfect. The Glasgow Chamberof Commerce is in the heart of the Merchant City and was founded in 1783. Some of its early members were involved in the sugar trade.
